Gem Tshering, Founder & CEO
Before he started his company in 2012, Gem was a tour guide and trip leader for National Geographic Expeditions (GeoEx), USA and Yangphel Adventure Travel, Bhutan. While working for the companies, he met Mr. Thomas L. Brunner and Mrs. Kathleen N. Brunner from Massachusetts, USA and they fully sponsored him to get an MBA degree from Eastern University, PA, USA.
Thereafter, Gem returned to Bhutan and worked for the World Food Program, Save the Children, USA, World Wildlife Fund, Guide Association of Bhutan, and for TashiCell, the only private telecom company in Bhutan.
Gem being a beneficiary of the tourism industry, he always has a special feeling in serving clients with humility and love and always ensure they have a trip of their lifetime and look forward to meeting them.
Norbu, Director
Norbu worked as Chef at Amankora, Bhutan before joining Gems Bhutan Travels. He speaks fluent Chinese and has guided many Chinese groups visiting Bhutan. Besides work, he enjoys being with nature and loves taking photographs of beautiful mountains and valleys of Bhutan.
Neten Wangmo, Business Development Manager
A graduate with Bachelor of Arts from Sherubtse College, Neten takes care of operations at Gems Bhutan Travels. With an aptitude for details and always optimistic, she brings with her valuable experience in management and technology. She joined GBT in 2023.
Karma Dema, Finance Manager
Karma Dema joined Gems Bhutan Travels (GBT) in 2013 and takes care of all financial matters of the company. She has a knack for numbers and ensures books of accounts are transparent and taxes are filed on time. Karma has a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) from Gaeddug College of Business, Bhutan.
Sherab Zangmo, Chief Guide
Sherab joined GBT in 2015 as the Chief Guide. She is a TCB certified tour guide and has been working for the tourism industry for the last 10 years and has led many international groups and traveled widely to far flung corners of Bhutan. Sherab has a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications degree from a college in India. Apart from guiding, she loves reading and writing.
Rinchen Yangzom, Adminstrative Officer
Rinchen Yangzom joined GBT in 2014 and looks after administrative aspects of the company. She ensures that company's logistical arrangements, transports, visa and all related admin functions are on track. She has passion for details and has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Royal Thimphu College, Bhutan.
Dorji, Driver
A high school graduate with more than 10 years experience in driving, Dorji ensures that guests are in a safe hand at all times. He joined GBT in early 2013. He is a certified and licensed driver. With his caring nature, he is always loved by our guests.
