ITINERARY EXPAND

  • Upon arrival at Paro International Airport and completion of immigration and customs formalities, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Begin your cultural exploration with a visit to Paro Dzong, a majestic fortress built in 1646 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the founder of the Drukpa Kagyupa sect, to defend Bhutan from Tibetan invasions. Continue to the Paro Museum, originally a watchtower, now serving as the National Museum housing Bhutanese art and artifacts. Then visit Dungtse Lhakhang, a unique temple built in 1421 by Lama Thangtong Gyelpo, the famous iron bridge builder. Enjoy an overnight stay at your hotel in Paro.

  • Climb to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, also known as the Tiger’s Nest, built in 1645. Perched dramatically on a cliffside, it is Bhutan’s most famous and photographed monastery, symbolizing the country’s spiritual heritage. Later, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples, built in the 7th century by Tibetan King Songtsan Gampo. This historic site marks the introduction of Buddhism to Bhutan. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely stroll through Paro town, exploring local shops and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere.   • The trek begins in Paro Valley at Drukgyel Dzong (2,580m), winding through scenic paddy fields, traditional village homes, and small chortens (stupas). Along the trail, the picturesque Pa Chhu (Paro River) enhances the journey, its banks adorned with blooming wild pink and white roses. The peaceful natural setting, combined with cultural sights, offers a perfect introduction to Bhutan’s rural charm. The day’s hike concludes at a campsite on the outskirts of Shana Zampa village, set amidst tranquil surroundings. This gentle start to the trek allows for acclimatization while soaking in the beauty of the valley. Overnight at camp (Altitude: 2,870m).

  • The trail continues with a gentle ascent along the Pa Chhu (Paro River), offering a peaceful and scenic journey. As you hike, you’ll pass through lush forests filled with oaks, rhododendrons, and ferns, surrounded by stunning natural landscapes. The soothing sound of the river enhances the sense of tranquility, making the trek both refreshing and meditative. This section of the trek allows you to immerse yourself in Bhutan’s pristine wilderness while enjoying panoramic views and the calming presence of nature. The day ends with an overnight stay at a serene campsite nestled at an altitude of 3,630 meters.

  • The trek leads through expansive yak grazing fields where you'll encounter friendly herdsmen offering local cheese, butter, meat, and yak hair used for making tents, caps, and blankets. Along the way, pass prayer walls, chortens, and fluttering prayer flags, all set against the stunning backdrop of towering Himalayan peaks. The trail culminates at Jangothang, with breathtaking views of Mount Jhomo Lhari (7,314m), a sacred peak believed to be the abode of Goddess Jomo. Locals hold annual prayers to seek her blessings for peace and a fruitful harvest. The day ends with an overnight stay at a scenic campsite at 4,090 meters.

  • Today is reserved for leisure, allowing trekkers to relax and acclimatize while enjoying the stunning natural surroundings. A recommended activity is a fishing trip to Tsophu, a serene high-altitude lake known for its abundance of spotted trout. The journey to the lake offers breathtaking views, making it an ideal opportunity for nature photography and wildlife spotting. The tranquil setting and crisp mountain air provide a perfect backdrop for rest and rejuvenation amid the Himalayas. Whether you choose to explore or simply relax, this day adds a peaceful interlude to your adventure. Overnight stay at the campsite, surrounded by scenic alpine beauty.

  • Jangothang marks the last settlement in the valley. Just ten minutes beyond, you’ll be treated to stunning views of Mt. Jichu Drake (6,989m) and Mt. Tserim Gang (6,789m). The trail leads to Nyilila Pass (4,890m), reached after about four hours of trekking. From there, it ascends near a tributary of the Mochu River and then gradually descends toward Lingzhi camp. An optional excursion from Lingzhi takes you to the base camp of Mt. Tserim Kang, where fishing is possible and, with luck, you might spot blue sheep or musk deer. The day ends with an overnight stay at the campsite.

  • Take a rest day in Lingzhi and explore the surrounding area. Visit the historic Lingzhi Dzong, enjoy panoramic mountain views, and immerse yourself in the serene alpine landscape. This break allows time for acclimatization while soaking in the rich cultural and natural beauty of this remote Himalayan village.

  • The trek crosses the scenic Yelela Pass at 4,820 meters, offering breathtaking panoramic views of some of Bhutan’s highest peaks—Mount Jhomolhari (7,314m), Gangchenta (6,840m), Tserim Gang (6,789m), and Masa Gang (7,165m). This section of the trail is especially rewarding for photographers and mountain lovers. After enjoying the spectacular vistas, the trail descends through pristine alpine landscapes to a serene campsite nestled near a clear stream in a lush meadow. This peaceful location at an altitude of 4,110 meters provides a perfect setting to rest and reflect on the day's adventure.

  • The trail follows the Thimphu Chu, winding through a dramatic canyon with steep cliffs on the northern side and lush cypress forests to the south. As the trek progresses, you’ll cross the Thimphu River multiple times—up to six crossings—adding a sense of adventure and variety to the journey. The landscape is rich in natural beauty, offering glimpses of native flora and the soothing sound of flowing water throughout the day. The day’s trek concludes at Barshong, where the campsite is located at an altitude of 3,680 meters, providing a peaceful retreat surrounded by forested slopes. Overnight at camp (Altitude: 3,680m).

  • The trail begins with a gentle descent through dense forests of rhododendron, birch, and conifer trees, offering a serene walk through Bhutan’s rich natural landscape. It then drops steeply to meet the Thimphu Chu (river), continuing along a dramatic path that skirts steep cliffs. The day’s trek concludes at Dolam Kencho, a scenic campsite located in lush pastureland at an altitude of 3,430 meters. Nestled within a beautiful meadow, this tranquil site provides a peaceful resting spot surrounded by nature’s splendor.

  • The final day of the trek begins with an ascent through conifer and high-altitude broadleaf forests, reaching a mountain pass at 3,510 meters. From the pass, the trail descends steeply down to the Thimphu River and follows its course southward until reaching Dodena at 2,600 meters, marking the end of the trek. From Dodena, you will be driven to your next destination in Thimphu for a well-deserved rest and relaxation.

  • Begin the day with a visit to Tashichho Dzong, the majestic 1702 structure that houses the Throne Room of His Majesty, key government offices, and the summer residence of Bhutan’s Chief Abbot and monastic body. Explore Thimphu’s traditional architecture and enjoy leisurely walks. Key attractions include the Memorial Chorten, Indigenous Hospital, National Library, Handicrafts Emporium, Textile Museum, and Takin Reserve—the national animal with a goat’s head and cow’s body. Continue to Sangaygang View Point for a panoramic view of Thimphu, often called the “Big Apple of Bhutan.” En route, visit Changangkha Lhakhang, a revered 12th-century temple perched above the city.

  • En route, visit Semtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress in Bhutan, built in 1629 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the unifier of the country. Perched on a hilltop overlooking the Thimphu valley, this historic structure served both as a defensive stronghold and a center of learning for Buddhist teachings. The dzong houses beautiful murals, intricate carvings, and a large statue of the Buddha of Compassion. Its rich history and strategic location make it a significant landmark in Bhutan’s spiritual and political heritage. After exploring the dzong, continue your journey and check in for a restful evening.
