Druk Path Trek

Druk Path Trek- 8 Nights /9 Days

When planning your holiday travel to Bhutan the Druk Path trail is simply a must-see. Following an ancient trade route between the valleys of Paro and Thimpu, this classic trek offers the most breathtaking view of the Himalayas during the autumn and winter season. If you love picturesque forest scenes with crystal clear lakes teeming with fish, then this tourist attraction in Bhutan is the place to be.

Day 1-   Tour in Paro City, Bhutan

Take a guided tour through the Western Bhutan city of Paro for a chance to see the iconic National Museum of Bhutan, Paro Dzong, and Dungtse Lhakhang - a chorten-shaped structure not commonly seen in Bhutan. The last stop for the day is KyichuLhakhang, a majestic seventh-century temple built by the Tibetan King SongtsanGampo.

Day 2- Tiger’s Nest hike

Hike up to the Tiger’s Nest, an iconic monastery built in 1696, and one of the most famous sites in Bhutan.  En route, visit the Drugyal Dzong, a preserved heritage site built in the 17th century to commemorate the victory over Tibetan invaders. While there, take in awesome sites of the snow-covered peaks of Jomolhari, Bhutan’s highest mountain.

Day 3- Paro to Jeledzong (7 km, 4 hours)

Your holiday in Bhutan continues with the trek from Paro to Jeledzong, a relatively short trek that ascends gradually through pine forests. While there, you get to see the imposing Lhakhang, inside which stands the 4m-high gilded statue of Sakyamuni.

Day 4-    Jeledzong to JangchuLakha (13km)

This 3 to 4 hour trek will see you make a 310m ascent through thick temperate forest as you take in the splendid scenes of Mt. Chomolhari and other snow-capped peaks, especially if the weather is right. You may also come across yak herders around the campsite.  

Day 5-   JangchuLakha to Janetsho (distance 15km, time around 6 hours)

This is a six-hour trek through Lake Jamilangtsho, a natural Lake that’s renowned for breathtaking beauty and giant-sized trouts. En-route, catch stunning views of andulating mountains and valleys as you make your way to the Lake Janetsho campsite at altitude of 3700m.

Day 6-   Janetsho to Phojoding. (Distance 15km and takes about 6 hours)

Follow the trail on the southern end of Lake Simkota and enjoy some of the best sights to see in Bhutan including a view of Mt. Gangkhar Punsum, a mountain in the Himalaya. After the pass, descend to Phajoding monastery where we will camp for the night ( Altitude 3200m)

Day 7-   Phojoding to Thimphu (distance 8 km)

As you wind up your holiday in Bhutan take a slow and leisurely trek downhill through the blue pine forest before checking into a hotel in Thimphu town. In the evening take a short stroll through this enchanting town.

Day 8 – Thimphu sightseeing.

Thimphu offers some of the best sights to see in Bhutan.  From Tashichhodzong which houses the King’s Throne Room to the Takin conservation park, there is no shortage of wonderful places to visit in Bhutan’s capital city.
